Xiaomi Ships Over 28 Million Smartphone Units In Q1 2018: Entry-Level Smartphones Recorded More Sales


Today, Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, released some details showing its smartphone sales for the first quarter of 2018. According to the date released, the company shipped about 28.431 million units, and the revenue from smartphones alone was 23.239 billion yuan ($3.6 million).

The CDR prospectus disclosed that from January to March 2018, Xiaomi Group’s R&D expenses was 1.104 billion yuan, accounting for 3.21% of its total revenue. In 2017, research and development expenses were 3.151 billion yuan, accounting for 2.75% of total revenue.  It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi also announced the sales of smartphones in various price segments in the first quarter of this year. The low-end smartphone is still the most relevant segment of the company as it sold over 11 million units with under 799 yuan ($125) price tag which generated a revenue of 5.422 billion yuan.

Xiaomi flagship smartphones with a price tag of 3000 yuan ($468) or more recorded the least sales as it sold only 496,000 units which generated an income of 1.315 billion yuan, while smartphones with the price tag between 800 yuan ($126) – 1299 Yuan ($205) sold 10.909 million units with a revenue was 8.861 billion yuan. Note that these sales are for Q1 2018.
