While we’re three days away from the launch of the interesting, perplexing Oppo Find X, opinions regarding its design seem to be divided. One set of leaks suggests a notch with a very unique semi-circular design. This could possibly also be hinted from Oppo’s official invite, but right not there is no clear sign. Also, the handset has unusually laid low on the rumour radar and we have not a single hands-on image yet. Amidst all this, a clip believed to be an Oppo commercial has now popped up on Weibo.
Gizchina News of the week
The clip itself is very short and reveals ever so little in just glimpses. If you’ll watch the clip, it will show the design being remarkably close to that of the Vivo Nex. But this raises questions of the selfie shooter. That is why this clip seems fishy. The rear has a dual camera setup that is just visible for a flash of a second. And that’s pretty much it.
Even if this is legit, as Oppo is a sister branch of Vivo that belong to the BBK Electronics group, then questions surrounding the front selfie camera still remain. Some patents have surfaced recently showing an external pop-out selfie camera mechanism trademarked by Oppo. However, this clip shows no signs of it. Also, curved edges of the display are not prominent on this short footage.
Hence, this seems very unlikely to be the Oppo Find X design, although we wouldn’t completely deny it since no other substantial proof for notches is available. Either way, the Find X launches on June 19 with some pretty awesome tech on board. Stay tuned as we’ll be closely following this launch event.
