Meizu has revised its strategy and goals recently. Unlike the previous years, it is launching competitive products one after another. The lately-launched Meizu 15 series handsets showed the company has refused many traditional elements and is switching to mainstream features. But this statement refers not only to the screen and overall appearance but to the hardware as well. If previously this company has been using MediaTek chips mainly, now it comes with Samsung Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. As you remember, recently, Qualcomm announced the first 700 series SoC named the Snapdragon 710. It immediately appeared on two models. We even have managed to compare the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE with the VIVO NEX A. But obviously, this chipset is going to power more devices. And the next one is said to come our way from Meizu. It will be called the Meizu X8.
Gizchina News of the week
Today, Meizu CEO, Huang Zhang revealed was interviewed. During the interview, he revealed they are going to release a new phone called the Meizu X8. It will be packed with a Snapdragon 710 SoC. The latter is Qualcomm’s mid-range chip, which has come to replace the current model, the Snapdragon 660. It is based on the 10nm process node and uses Kryo 360 architecture, an octa-core design, a CPU frequency of 2.2GHz, and a GPU Adreno 616. It scores around 170,000 points at AnTuTu.
Apart from the Meizu X8, there are rumors two other models will hit the market soon. They are the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus. These handsets are said to come with an on-screen fingerprint scanner and an 8GB of RAM. Their expected launch date is August. So if Meizu pushes back this date, it may bring an uncompetitive product to the market. We mean the Xiaomi Mi MAX 3, Nokia Phoenix, and Google Pixel 3 are already ready to release. They all come with a Snapdragon 710.
