There are currently only a few smartphones with an in-display fingerprint scanner, however, that may not remain so for long before it becomes a trend, as various reports have it already that more OEMs are planning on hopping on the bandwagon. While the upcoming flagship Galaxy S10 is one of such device expected to come with the tech in the near future, a new report that just emanated from China suggests HMD Global is preparing a flagship device with the under display scanner.
The device which has reportedly been in development since February was supposed to be made official by mid-year, but never happened due to production constraints, it is now tipped for IFA launch later in August.
Gizchina News of the week
While it is not clear under what name the device will be launched, available documents point to a “Nokia 9” moniker that is at present codenamed “A1 Plus” or “A1P” for in-house reference. HMD Global is reportedly developing the alleged Nokia A1 plus in partnership with FIH Mobile (Foxconn), and is expected to highlight an Under display fingerprint sensor to be placed under an OLED display from LG.
Camera and other details are scares at the moment, but with triple rear camera becoming a trend, it won’t be out of place if the alleged Nokia A1 Plus features such camera setting. We expect to see more leaks in the days leading to IFA 2018 in Berlin.
