Renders of a mysterious Nubia smartphone have made their way to the web. This might be the upcoming Nubia Z18 but a previously reported image does not corroborate with the current leak.
The renders showcase a phone, that, at the first glance, looks absolutely gorgeous. The front is nothing but a display, devoid of any bezels on the top or the sides with a little chin on the bottom. There’s no notch or a visible front camera present on the renders. Maybe a front camera that will pop out of the top? It won’t be the first thanks to Vivo’s Nex and Oppo’s Find X. But that’s not the most interesting part of these renders. It’s the back where things get interesting. It seems like there is a second screen on the back designed strictly for maybe notifications at a glance?. The renders showcase a back with an analogue clock sitting smack in the middle of the curved glass. Maybe Nubia is looking to join the ranks of Yota Phone and the Meizu Pro 7. There’s no surety whether the secondary display is a part of the package as it could have been easily photoshopped.
Gizchina News of the week
Other than that, the phone doesn’t exactly seem to have a thin profile. This can be attributed to the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone sports all the gimmicks of 2018 and retains a few from the previous years. There’s a dual camera setup on the back with dual LED flash. The bottom of the frame houses the USB Type-C charging port flanked by the 3.5mm headphone jack on the left and the speaker grill on the right.
There is no ETA on the Nubia Z18. It is expected to sport the Snapdragon 845 coupled with 6GB RAM and 64 GB UFS 2.1 onboard storage. There is also a possibility of an 8GB+128GB model.
Fp scanner on each side? Actually a smart move – if it is
Pretty sure Samsung is going to put a second smaller screen on the back for selfies and face time or the are putting the front camera under a transparent strip of OLED screen. Either way Pop up camera will have just as short a life as notch cameras had.
