Oppo Find X is one of the two phones that is part of the mechanical camera innovation which might soon become a trend. Oppo claims that the mechanism can endure 150 uses in a day regularly for 5 years straight before showing any signs of failure.
While the mechanical component makes it stand out, it’s the same attribute that could bring about some problems in the long run. Mainly, its durability across years or even months of usage. According to Oppo, the Find X’s dual rail periscope structure was subjected to over 300,000 times rigorous tests while in research and development. This comes to about 150 times/day usage which should be plenty for going about your daily picture snapping and video shooting. Not just this, Oppo claims that the structure can guarantee more than 5 years of use. And in the current recycling rate of smartphones, no one would use a phone for 5 years.

Oppo also stated that the Find X comes with a fall auto-recovery mechanism which has three stages: free-fall detection, signal command, and periscope recovery. In layman terms, if the Oppo Find X realises that it is been subjected to free fall while the camera dual rail periscope is jutted out, it will retract back into the phone. Those are some nifty tricks that increase the durability of a phone by quite a lot. Who knew mechanical cameras are coming into fashion? We might get to see more applications like these in the coming future. Stay tuned!
