After sending out media invites for a launch event scheduled for July 18, Huawei has today not only confirm the existence of a Nova 3, it also released a teaser image of the third iteration of its upper mid-range Nova series of smartphones.
The teaser image extracted from Huawei’s Weibo account explicitly reveals the Nova 3 much like the Huawei Nova 3e will come with a notched display, and the notch appears to be larger than the ones seen on a few other notched devices previously announced by the company. What is most prominent, however, is not the notched display, but the Camera sensors that sits alongside the earpiece inside the notch.
As you can see from the image below, the Nova 3 will be coming with a dual selfie camera setup, and this will probably make it the first device with the irregular notch display to house a twin selfie camera setup. A similar camera set up with AI features as well as a centrally placed fingerprint sensor can be seen on the flip side.
Gizchina News of the week
Just a few hours back, the Nova 3 stopped over at TENAA where its specs were fully revealed, giving us an insight into to what expect from the device in terms of its internal makeups. Measuring 157.0×73.7×7.3mm and weighing in at 165 grams, the Nova 3 as per the TENAA listing is tipped to flaunt a 6.3-inch display with 2340 × 1080 resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, while it will be powered by an octa-core CPU, running at 2.3 GHz, and if our guess is right, this should either be the Kirin 659 or the rumored the HiSilicon Kirin 710 which is due to be made official later this month. Regardless of the chip model, it will be paired with a 6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, and a 3650mAh battery. The phone runs on Android 8.1.
The best for the last, the highlight of the upcoming Nova 3 seems to be hidden in the camera department. Much like the Honor 10, the Nova 3 will house a 16 MP main sensor and a 24 MP secondary setup on the back, while the display notch will house a similar setup, but with 24 MP + 2 MP combination.
The device is expected to go official on July 18, but we’ll keep you posted if get more details about the upcoming device.
