The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has been causing quite the buzz since the past few weeks. Most notable being the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, posting the retail box of the Mi Max 3, hinting at an imminent launch in the coming weeks. We know that the Mi Max 3 will follow in the footsteps of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, with a notch-less and full-screen display. Previous renders have speculated the presence of a dual camera setup on the back. As of today, a leaked photo of the alleged Mi Max 3 confirms the presence of a dual camera setup. This is supported by the TENAA listing that appears a few weeks back.
The back panel has a vertically aligned dual camera setup on the top left corner. The fingerprint scanner also sits on the back although face detection should be a part of the package, it will mostly be software driven. Don’t expect any structured light tech on the Mi Max 3.
Gizchina News of the week
There will apparently be two variants of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, the normal and the Mi Max 3 Pro variant. It is speculated that the Pro variant will sport Snapdragon 710 while the standard variant will sport the less powerful Snapdragon 636. The Pro variant passed by NCC, confirming its existence.
Other than the chipset, both the variants are expected to sport similar specs. According to TENAA, the Mi Max 3/Max 3 Pro will sport a 6.9-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 2160 x 1080p resolution and judging from the photos, an 18:9 aspect ratio. Multiple memory variants are expected, 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and undisclosed memory options. Android 8.1 with MIUI 10 on top should be a part of the package. An earlier rumour says that this device will sell for 1699 Yuan ($258). It is speculated to arrive this month, although the date of launch has not yet been revealed.
