Veteran tipster Ice Universe, took to Twitter to state that the Samsung Gear S4 smartwatch will be called ‘Galaxy Watch’ and will sport WearOS in lieu of the usual Tizen OS. This shift might come due to the ever-evolvingĀ eco-system of WearOS which the Tizen eco-system could barely match.
About Gear S4 (probably called Galaxy Watch) Based on Android Wear, 470mAh battery, PLP package, it is expected to have new UX interaction and blood pressure measurement.

Ice Universe also stated that it will sport a 470mAh battery and apparently a blood pressure monitoring technique too. It will be interesting to see how Samsung manages to get that done. Apparently, there’s a patent that details a way to do that. The PLP (panel level package) that is mentioned in the tweet, refers to a new chip manufacturing process that should result in smaller and cheaper boards. This could lead to lesser space required for the components. This would allow for a larger battery to be put in place. Another notable feature is the new UX interaction. Probably a crown re-design or new button mappings.
The launch date is not yet clear but it might launch with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which is slated to launch on the 9th of August. We should get to know more about theĀ Samsung Gear S4 in the coming days. Stay tuned!
