HMD Global was earlier expected to host a launch event where it would have announced the arrival of the Nokia X5 in China a couple of days back, however, to our dismay, the Nokia licensee a few hours to the launch event announced via a Weibo post it has canceled the event, but failed to set a new date. Though no reasonable reasons were given for the cancellation, the company only attributed such to issues with the launch event centre, it did especially apologize to its fans via its Weibo channel for the inconveniences.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, reports reaching us indicates the company may have scheduled a launch event for July 17. Though HMD Global/ Nokia has yet to confirm the report, so we may have to take this information with all skepticism until we get official words from HMD Global.
The Nokia X5, like the Nokia X6, is expected to launch outside of China as the Nokia 5.1 plus, with the same hardware, but with different Android experience. It will arrive with a display notch, like the X6, and is expected to flaunt a 5.86-inch IPS LCD display with 19::9 aspect ratio and a Mediatek Helio P60 coupled with up to 6GB of RAM under its hood.
Reports have it that the base 3GB/32GB model will carry a price tag of 799 Yuan (~$120), while the 6GB/64GB variant will go for as much as 999 Yuan (~$150)
