Huawei, Vivo and Xiaomi are the only contenders on the market with an in-display fingerprint scanner. They make use of Synaptics ClearID technology to implement the same. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung could have implemented a fingerprint scanner on their previous smartphones two years ago if they wanted to put an optical scanner on their phones like the Synaptics one. But since Samsung wanted to use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, it took time and a probable collaboration with Qualcomm to get the tech on a phone.
