South Korean manufacturing giants, Samsung and LG are the heavyweights in the smartphone OLED panel market. However, LG is still way behind Samsung while the likes of BOE are just a shadow on their path and it is currently been considered as an alternative by some OEMs. Now, a new player is coming into the smartphone OLED market and it is no small name.
Gizchina News of the week
Japanese manufacturer, Sharp, which peddles the Aquos brand has shown its interest to make its in-house OLED panels commercial. Its Aquos smartphones have been using these panels for quite some time.
Sharp is well known for the manufacturing of laptops and other high-quality electronic products. As of now, reports have it that the company’s OLED panels have gone into mass production since June. Apple will definitely be keeping a close tab with Sharp’s progress because the company is not entirely comfortable doing business with its arch-rival, Samsung. The entrance of Sharp into the smartphone OLED market could change the fortunes of Samsung in this business.
