Reports have confirmed that the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be launched on October 4th. The launch is still almost 2 months away and the Pixel 3 XL has already leaked in an unboxing video. The leak not only shows what the Pixel will look like but also what’s going to be in the box. And it’s stuff in the box that has me more excited than the phone.
Let’s take a look at the Pixel 3 XL. This is not a pretty phone. It has a thick notch up front and the chin is even thicker. Well, at least it has stereo speakers to compensate for that. So, not a lot to look at in the front. There’s nothing to look at on the back either. It looks exactly the same as the Pixel 2 XL’s. Google seems to have chosen to keep dual cameras out of this one contrary to previous leaks. There’s a fingerprint scanner too so rule out all possibility for an in-display fingerprint scanner. That’s it. There’s nothing more to look at here.

The contents of the box are interesting, or rather one particular accessory. The Google Pixel 3 XL will allegedly come with a pair of wired USB type-C earbuds. This will be the first time that Google ships a Pixel with a pair of earbuds. Other than that, there’s the usual documentation, charging cord with a wall brick, USB-C to 3.5mm jack and a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
The about phone screen reveals what was earlier reported by Geekbench, octa-core Snapdragon 845 under the hood with 4GB RAM. The display will have a 2960 x 1440p resolution translating to a 494ppi pixel density. Google is yet to officially start talking about the next-gen pixels.
