From our last week poll, 43% of voters prefer the adaptive batter feature in Android 9 while the New Swipe Navigation System and Auto Rotate In Navigation Bar got 13% and 11% respectively. All other features managed 6% votes or below.
On August 7th, Android released its latest version dubbed Android 9 Pie. As of now, all Pixel smartphones, and Essential Phone have been upgraded to this new system via OTA. Xiaomi MIX 2S started receiving the beta version of the latest Andriod version on August 8 while Huawei has also commenced internal testing of Android 9 Pie for four of its devices. Japanese manufacturer, Sony recently announced that six of its smartphones will soon receive the Android 9 Pie update. However, And the likes of HMD Global, HTC and Motorola have all listed a couple of devices to receive this update.

Android 9 Pie comes with a lot of exciting features and Google promised that its users will have a seamless experience. However, many manufacturers are currently releasing a beta update of this system potential first adopters are enthusiastic of this new system. However, Android 9 Pie comes with a feature that many may not like. This new system comes with a mandatory “anti-rollback” feature which ensures that once you port to Android P, you can’t roll back to a lower version. It is possible for a user to successfully downgrade to a lower version, but the startup mechanism of the system will not boot after detecting that the current version is lower than the previous version. In the compatibility guide document of the Android 9 Pie system, the boot/system/vendor partitions have added “rollback protection”.
