The Meizu 16 just went on sale yesterday, and from the looks of it, it is hot property. Being the most affordable flagship with an on-screen fingerprint, it has a lot of charm. However, Meizu is also working on a solid mid-range device called Meizu 16X. This was revealed by the Meizu CE, Jack Wong himself. He also said that the Meizu 16X will be a Snapdragon 710 SoC – fueled device. But wait, that’s not all, Meizu has another Snapdragon 710 device in the pipeline and it is the Meizu X8. This particular handset has been in the news before the Meizu 16 launch itself.
Gizchina News of the week
Some speculation suggested that both these phone are the same, however, fresh information from Wong suggests otherwise. As per him, the Meizu 16X will boast of a Super AMOLED panel and also an on-screen fingerprint sensor. It is expected to be priced outrageously aggressive between 2,000 Yuan (~$292) and 2,500 Yuan (~$365). We guess Meizu does really want to make friends this year more than profit.
Wong separately described the Meizu X8 saying it also has a Snapdragon 710 SoC and it will have a notch, a first from Meizu. There are no timelines as to its launch date. The mid-range phone will be bigger than the Mi 8 SE and priced around 1,500 Yuan (~$219) to 2,000 Yuan (~$292). The design traits of the Meizu 16X are unknown thus far but speculation suggests it will be similar to the Meizu 16.
From Wong’s earlier comments, it seems the 16X will see the light of day in September.
