Bing isn’t the most popular search engine, mostly due to the Google’s aggressive marketing campaign. However, Bing is pretty popular in the United States, where it also offers a large gamma of features. Today, the Windows company is introducing a new feature for the search engine called Spotlight.
With Spotlight, Bing will be able to identify some impactful stories that evolve over a period of weeks or months, through a deep search in queries and news articles every day. Bing will also be able to show different viewpoints on the most controversial topics, through searches.

Microsoft also mentioned that will Spotlight, Bing will look at various users aspects such as queries, browser logs, and document signals. Furthermore, the tool will look at how many publishers covers the same history, their different viewpoints, the order on their respective website. After this, Spotlight will ordinate the stories from the more important to the less. Everything based on the user’s preference.
To achieve this the company is using deep learning algorithms and web graphs from millions of websites in the Bing index. Sadly, this smart feature is only available in the United States, but according to the company, it should arrive in other regions late this year. Let’s see if the company will fulfill this promise, or will Bing most useful features remain strict to the US.
