With the IFA 2018 official opening still hours ahead, it isn’t surprising seeing manufacturers announcing devices ahead of time. The smartphones segment already witness a few pre-IFA announcements, and today focus is been shifted to the Laptop PC segment. Acer, earlier today in Berlin announced a plethora of PCs including Acer Swift 7, Acer Swift 3, Swift 5 and a couple of gaming monitors and accessories in the Predator and Nitro gaming series. Also, part of the lineup of products for IFA 2108 is the new OJO 500 Windows Mixed Reality headset, new commercial laser projectors, the Chromebook 514, the VirZOOM – a VR headset technology focused towards fitness, and refreshes of the Aspire notebook and all-in-one PC portfolio.
First showcased at the CES earlier this year, the Acer Swift 5 (SF515-51T) is a 15” Notebook made entirely of Magnesium Aluminum frame, and at 990g, Acer claims device is the World’s lightest laptop in the 15” category.
Billed to go on sale in Europe in November at €1,099, and in the US in January next year from $1,099, the Acer Swift 5 flaunts a 15” Full HD touch displays, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage, fingerprint readers, USB-C 3.1 via Type-C connection with Power Delivery. Acer claims the Swift 5 is stuffed with a battery that should offer between 8 and 10 hours of use from a full charge.
The Taiwanese firm also refreshed the existing Swift 5 (SF514-53T) with the same thin and lightweight Magnesium -lithium, and most notably with the latest 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8565U and Core i5-8265U processors. Acer hasn’t announced the Swift 5 (SF514-53T) pricing and roll out details, but we assume it will hit the shelves sometime later in November and January 2019.

Acer says the Swift 3 should offer up to 12 hours of battery life and should be heading to North America in November at $799.99.
Acer also for a brief moment showcased the Acer Swift 7, which it says is the thinnest 15” laptop in the World. It comes in at less than 1kg (2.2 pounds), less than 1cm (0.394 inches) thin and has extremely small bezels around its screen amounting to 92 percent screen-to-body ratio.
