Recently, Vivo announced that finished the development of 5G smartphone software and will start to test the implementation on their smartphones. The company is one of the pioneers in the race for this new ultra-fast connectivity. Today a couple of leaked pictures revealed the “5G” testing version of the flagship Vivo NEX.

The company has finished the architecture for the 5G smartphones – The RF Antenna design, Battery Space, and Software Optimization. Looking to the working 5G signal on this Vivo NEX prototype, we can conclude that the company finally reached the complete level of 5G making it ready for commercial use.

The BBK owned firm started the development of 5G back in 2016 and in 2017 started the pre-development of 5G key technologies. Worth noting that Oppo – another firm from the BBK group – also started the testing phase for shipping its 5G smartphones.

Vivo has previously mentioned that the first smartphones with 5G would be released late on this year. Officially, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will officially issue a 5G spectrum allocation plan in September. Just in time for Vivo start the mass testing of its 5G smartphones.
