Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is likely to become a favorite Android phone in 2018 because the upcoming phones for the next few months will be a step behind it including the Pixel 3, Google’s latest flagship which still uses a notch display. As enticing as the Galaxy Note 9 is, there are at least five reasons why you should consider skipping the Galaxy Note 9. The Samsung Galaxy S10 will be Samsung’s most exciting smartphone released over the years. Although the Galaxy Note 9 is great, this series reuse last year’s design, and Note 9 is an iterative upgrade compared to its predecessors. In contrast, the Galaxy S10 will be a massive upgrade. Here are the reasons
Design
From the trickles of speculation regarding next year’s Galaxy S10, the biggest question mark is its design. Samsung had to cope with a huge backlash when it released the Galaxy S9 series with little or no change in design from the Galaxy S8 series. Simply put, the Galaxy S10 series will clearly take advantage of all the benefits of the Galaxy S9 design to make it even better. First and foremost, the Galaxy S10 is not expected to have a minor design update like the Galaxy S9. We have heard that the design of this phone will further increase the display (screen-to-body ratio). It still has curved edges on the sides. The biggest difference should be a significant reduction in the top bezel and the chin. Furthermore, the Galaxy S10 will most likely be thinner than the S9 series. With respect to design, the Galaxy S10 is one device worth waiting for.
On-Screen Fingerprint Sensor
The center rear fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy Note 9 is obviously more attractive than the Galaxy Note 8. However, it is still on the rear of the phone, which means that users need to constantly slide their fingers on the back while using this feature. Fortunately, the days of a rear fingerprint sensor for flagship smartphones are almost over. The Samsung Galaxy S10 series will embed a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the display. This means that users can unlock their phone, open a secure app and verify payment by simply touching a specific area of the screen with their finger. Chinese manufacturers like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi already have this feature but you can expect Samsung to come up with some sleek sensor.
Gizchina News of the week
Triple Camera System
No doubt, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 has a great camera but there is room for improvement. The Note 9 camera is one of the best camera systems that have been tested on smartphones, but it is still not as good as the Huawei P20 Pro camera, which is the first flagship phone with triple rear cameras. However, Samsung will join Huawei next year, and reports have it that two of the Galaxy S10 series will be equipped with a triple-camera system. According to reports, Samsung’s new triple-camera will be installed behind the Galaxy S10 and the larger Galaxy S10+. The phone will be equipped with a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens sensor for optical zoom and portrait mode photography, and an additional 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor for capturing more data. In all honesty, we expect nothing less than “perfect” from such camera setup.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is one of the fastest and most powerful smartphones on the market, but it is still not as good as last year’s iPhone. When Apple releases its new generation of iPhones with 7nm A12 chips, they will leave the Note 9 far behind. Next year’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ will also be equipped with the next-generation 7nm chips, which are more powerful and efficient than any of the SoCs we currently see on Galaxy phones. The versions sold in the US and China will use Qualcomm’s upcoming Opteron processor, while the other versions will use the new Exynos chip. These two new chipsets will deliver powerful features that we have never seen before.
Size Options
Finally, the Galaxy S10 will provide us with more options than the Galaxy Note 9. If you choose the Note 9, you will have to cope with a large and expensive smartphone whether you like large devices or not. However, the Galaxy S10 will come in three different sizes and their prices will vary. The entry-level “Galaxy S10 Lite” may be priced against other mid- to high-end phones, while the Galaxy S10 may be priced similar to the Galaxy S9. Those who want a larger display can choose the Galaxy S10+, which will give Samsung a “perfect” new high-end product line.
Conclusion
South Korean manufacturing giant, Samsung, obviously has something very good in its store but we ain’t seeing those till next year with the Galaxy S10 series. Personally, I think it is worth the wait especially if you are a Samsung fanboy.
