Besides an awesome Honor Magic 2 announcement, Huawei also declared at IFA 2018 the beginning of EMUI 9.0 beta based on Android Pie. The beta kicked off the same day for just a handful of new devices that are listed below.
Huawei Mate 10/Pro, Huawei P20/Pro, Honor 10, Honor View 10, and Honor Play
It’s too early to get you all the new features but XDA got a hold of some screenshots of the new firmware. Take a look at the different windows below. Basically, it will get a new design, a gesture navigation system (different from Google’s), Huawei’s own Digital Wellbeing app with parental controls and something called GPU Turbo 2.0.

Moreover, there’s bound to be the stock Android 9.0 Pie features baked in it as well. The big bummer is the limited slots available (only 100 for each country) in the beta phase. However, XDA source has procured a version but there is no guarantee it will work. If you still want to try to enroll and have the above-mentioned devices, follow the steps below.
- Go to Huawei’s Friendly User Test (FUT) website.
- Download the beta app.
- Sign up for an account if you haven’t already
- Go to Personal –> Join project
- Find the EMUI 9 beta program and sign up
