Razer, the Singaporean company famous for its gaming laptops and peripherals at about November last year ventured into the competitive smartphones market when it announced the Razer Phone, a flagship Snapdragon 835 powered Android phone built to appeal to the mobile gaming and entertainment fans. The company recently in its financial report for 2018 stated that its “Other” business category recorded a 432.3% year-over-year to $16.5M in revenue.

What is interesting however isn’t the recorded growth, but that the growth is attributed to the brand’s first ever Smartphone- the Razer phone 1. Its rectangular design notwithstanding, Gaming is the Razer Phone’s claim to fame, and its something Razer isn’t ready to renege. While no specific number of units sold was given, Razer announced that it is looking to channeling its resources squarely “into the development of the second generation Razer Phone” which might arrive much later as the Razer phone 2, though not an officially affirmed moniker.
Sadly, Razer hasn’t revealed when exactly we are to expect the Razer phone 2, but there are media speculations that the new phone should hit the shelves in China by the end of 2018, so we are probably looking at a launch date similar to the November 2017 Razer phone 1 Launch date.
