On the evening of September 5, Honor held a new product launch conference in Xi’an, officially launching the new Honor 8X, Honor 8X Max, Honor Band 4, and Honor Band 4 Running Edition. After the meeting, Zhao Ming, president of Honor, said in an interview that the previous generation of Honor 7X currently has more than 15 million units sold. So the 8X is expected to achieve 20 million units worldwide. He also revealed some information concerning the Honor Magic 2.

The Honor 8X Max uses a 7.12-inch ‘pearl screen’, which accounts for more than 90% of the front panel. At the same time, the grip is only equivalent to the traditional 6.3-inch smartphone. The Honor 8X comes with a 6.5-inch narrow-framed bangs full-screen. The chin is narrower. So the screen ratio is more than 90%. And the grip is equivalent to the traditional 5.5-inch model. As expected, the Honor 8X Max uses two chips of Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 636, while the Honor 8X is equipped with the Huawei’s mainstream chip of Kirin 710. The former is sold at 1499 yuan ($219), while the latter comes at 1399 yuan ($204).

As for the Honor Magic 2, he said it is basically in the mass production. Moreover, it could be already released if not the situation of Kirin 980. However, Zhao Ming said that the sliding screen of the Honor Magic 2 is not only used to open the camera, but also has many functions related to AI. IFA only revealed the tip of the iceberg. Zhao Ming believes that comprehensive screen technology is not the selling point of Honor but AI is.

In terms of 5G mobile phones, Zhao Ming believes that 5G smartphones are still in the marketing concept. At present, most of the so-called 5G handsets are actually docked in the laboratory. Currently, Huawei is doing 5G system testing. So if there is no 5G network yet, how we can talk about the commercial 5G smartphones?
