Today, Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, released a new invitation letter to the media for the release its annual flagship, Mate 20 series in London on October 16. In the invitation letter, a couple of information regarding these smartphones were revealed. We already know that at least two smartphones, Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, will be released at this conference. The two new models will use the water drop display and a notch respectively. The Mate 20 Pro is expected to be equipped with 3D structured light technology for detailed and advanced face recognition. Though it has long been speculated, the invitation letter confirmed the use of 7nm process Kirin 980 chip on these devices.

The Kirin 980 comes with Cortex A76 and uses a Mali-G76 GPU. According to the company, the performance is increased by 46% and the energy efficiency increased by 17% compared to the Kirin 970. More importantly, Kirin 980 is the first in the world to support LTE Cat.21. It currently has the industry’s highest downlink rate – 1.4Gbps. Furthermore, it is very flexible and will seamlessly deal with any frequency band of different operators around the world. Of course, the Huawei Mate 20 series is expected to be pre-installed with the EMUI 9.0 system based on Android 9 Pie depth customization. On EMUI 9.0, the new GPU Turbo 2.0 technology has significantly improved the touch experience and functional experience of the game scene.
