We’ve been waiting for it for quite some time – we also informed you aboutit with certain leaks during the past couple of days – and today it’s official: meet the Xiaomi Amazfit Verge, Huami’s new smartwatch, packed with interesting features fit for those Amafit fans out there.
The brand new smartwatch comes with impressive stand by times, maxing at 5 days of battery life with continuous heart rate tracking and even occasional GPS use (GLONASS is supported too). It also packs an NFC chip for use with AliPay in China and also as a bus pass in the aforementioned country.
Gizchina News of the week
It’s a round smartwatch once again, following on the footsteps of the Amafit 2 (Stratos) model, packing an 1.3 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, covered with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, while boasting a body with 12.6mm thickness and a weight of 46g.
One thing you have to know about is that even though it comes with IP68 certification – which is okay for using it in the shower- you cannot use it for swimming! The Amazfit Verge packs a microphone and a loud speaker for calls – which is a first for Huami- and it also uses Xiaomi’s Xiao AI assistant – with just Chinese support for now.
It is heavily interconnected with Mijia’s eco-system and this means that it can easily communicate with most of Xiaomi’s Smart Home devices and control them, like Yi lights, wall sockets, air conditioners, smart robots and rice cookers.
It packs a dual core SoC, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (1.9GB user available), and it costs a mere CNY 800 ($115/€100). It’s already available in the Chinese market (JD.com and Tmall). Soon other stores will offer it as well.
