Earlier today, we saw the release of a couple of Xiaomi products including the Xiaomi Mi 8 on-screen fingerprint version. Now, without any delay, the company has commenced presale of this smartphone on Xiaomi Mi Mall. The smartphone will be officially sold at 10 am on September 21. However, if you want to have an edge, you have to make a non-refundable 100 Yuan ($15) down payment and the smartphone will be shipped seven days after the final payment is made (presumably before Sept 21st). The 6GB+128GB version is sold for 3199 Yuan ($467) while the 8GB+128GB version goes for 3599 Yuan ($525).

The Xiaomi Mi 8 on-screen fingerprint version is just like the regular Xiaomi Mi 8, however, the biggest difference remains the inclusion of an on-screen fingerprint sensor and the company claims that this is the world’s first smartphone to support a pressure sensitive on-screen fingerprint recognition. Its built-in high-sensitivity pressure sensor effectively enhances the unlocking success rate and gives the finger a vibration feedback.

This smartphone comes in Twilight Gold and Meteorite Black colours which the regular version don’t have and they are quite beautiful. In terms of appearance, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Version still uses a 6.21-inch notch AMOLED screen supplied by Samsung. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chip and the camera department features a 12MP dual-camera with AI zoom coupled with a 20MP front shooter. See more spec details HERE.

In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 8 on-screen fingerprint version supports dual-frequency GPS which was the main talking point in the Xiaomi Mi 8. It supports the use of an L1 band clocking 1575.42MHz and the L5 band which clocks 1176.45MHz for dual-frequency positioning. The dual-frequency GPS can effectively solve the problem of positioning deviation which greatly improves the improve positioning accuracy.
