Amazon introduces Alexa Guard for Echo devices; keeps your house safe

Amazon announced a whole new set of new Echo devices today. Alongside it, the company also announced some improvements to its virtual assistant, Alexa, basically the core of each Echo device. With these new improvements, Amazon wants to help its customers to make life more convenient, entertaining and now safe. Among the new features, Amazon unveiled Alexa Guard, a new exclusive feature that will help users to keep their houses safe.

If you own any of the Amazon’s Echo devices, with Alexa Guard the smart speakers will help to keep your house safe. Obviously, this isn’t an ultra-powerful feature that will keep your house safe, but it’s better than nothing and has the potential to be a great thing in the future. The new feature allows the user to say a simple command to Alexa like “Alexa, I’m leaving” to activate the Guard Mode. Once the feature is enabled, Alexa will send to the users smart notifications if an Echo device “hears” a strange noise like glass breaking, smoke detectors, or carbon monoxide alarms detected in your house.

Furthermore, with Alexa Guard, the smart assistant will be able to intuitively turn the light on or off to keep intruders away. Moreover, it can also be integrated with Alarm System from Ring Alarms and ADT if you have any of them in your house. According to the retailer company, Alexa Guard feature will be available for a select number of Echo devices later on this year.

Features like Alexa Guard are what we really expect from Smart Home devices. If the company indeed managed to develop a standing out system for security, this may put Echo devices a step beyond the competition.
