Apple A12 bionic chip performance measured, outperform Snapdragon 845


Tech news site tomsguide brought a performance comparison tests of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max with their new A12 bionic chip, alognside with the iPhone X and some Android flagship phones.

In the GeekBench 4 multi-core test, the iPhone XS Max topped the list with 11515. The performance of the iPhone XS is similar to that of the iPhone XS Max. The iPhone X multi-core score is 10357.

In the Android camp, Oneplus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, LG G7 ThinQ and Samsung Galaxy S9+ are equipped with the Snapdragon 845 processor. The Oneplus 6 has the best performance reaching 9088 points, Samsung Galaxy S9+ multi-core results is 8295 at the bottom.

In addition, tomsguide also used the Adobe Premiere Clips app to test the video editing capabilities of the above phones (using Adobe Premiere Clips to transcode 2 minutes of 4K video to 1080p).

In this part of the test, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS took only 39 seconds, and iPhone X performed equally well in 43 seconds. The Samsung Galaxy S9+, LG G7 ThinQ, One Plus 6, Galaxy Note 9 and other Snapdragon 845 flagships performed slightly worse, with the longest time of 3 minutes and 45 seconds.

Both the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max are powered by the A12 bionic chip, which is based on a 7nm process. According to the official introduction, compared with the A11 bionic chip, the A12 bionic chip graphics processor has a speed increase of up to 50%, a performance core speed increase of up to 15%, and an energy efficiency of up to 50%.
