The maximum amount of RAM shipped in smartphones is currently limited to 8GB RAM. And, of course, there is nothing to complain about that. While more RAM means more multi-tasking powers, there is just a select group that will make use of it. However, in the past days, we’ve heard about a 10GB RAM smartphone when a new variant of Oppo Find carrying such amount of RAM surfaced in Chinese TENAA.
This certification suggested that Oppo’s new device would be the first smartphone to be commercialized with 10GB of RAM. However, according to the reputable tipster IceUniverse, this variant, which was also set to debut with 256GB of Storage, will not be released after all.

Currently, it is unclear why Oppo has gone through the entire process of getting this particular model certified considering it has no plans of releasing it. Perhaps, the company realized that the demand won’t be enough to justify the release and the costs of manufacture for this new 10GB RAM model. You can imagine how much would cost this specific variant? 8GB RAM is already too much and a user hardly would go beyond this amount, to need a 10GB RAM variant.
Despite the drop of this particular model, we’re starting to see 10GB RAM smartphones become a thing. We wouldn’t be surprised if another company announce a device with this multi-tasking power in the next year. However, would you need this overkilling amount of RAM?
