Android Pie files hint at the foldable Galaxy phone and Snapdragon 8150 chipset

The code name of the first Samsung smartphone with foldable display is present in the Android Pie firmware build for the Galaxy S9, as well as elements related to the future SoC Snapdragon 8150.

The Android 9.0 Pie firmware of the Galaxy S9 is definitely rich in information about upcoming mobile device features. The XDA Developers site made an overview with the latest build available and found new interesting details.

First and foremost is the famous smartphone with foldable screen that Samsung has to announce before the end of the year.

The project is supposed to carry the code name “Winner” and it is precisely this name that appears in the firmware, where the four references relating to the Galaxy S10 (three versions and a 5G variant) had already been found.

Another reference indicates that the smartphone will run with an Exynos processor, the Exynos 9820 expected in the Galaxy S10.

XDA Developers has also found references to SnapDragon 8150 , the next high-end mobile platform from Qualcomm (formerly Snapdragon 855). So the name of Snapdragon 8150 is confirmed.

And if the Galaxy S10 is to be proposed in a version 5G, it is quite possible that it exploits a SoC 8150 with a Snapdragon X50 modem, which could explain the reference observed here.
