Nokia 5.1 Plus will receive Pie update by the end of 2018

Nokia 5.1 Plus

The Nokia 5.1 Plus was launched as a global variant of Nokia X5 in Taiwan and India. The device was promised to receive Android Pie, however, the company didn’t specify any timeframe for the update.

Today, thanks to the company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, we know that the wait is near to have a happy ending. According to Mr.Sarvikas, he “would be surprised” if the Nokia 5.1 Plus does not receive the update before the end of 2018.

Currently, the Android Pie update is being rolled to the Nokia 7 Plus, and soon the Nokia 5.1 Plus will join the select group of smartphones running Android 9. The promised update will introduce Adaptive Batter, Digital Wellbeing a revamped UI and more.

Since the Nokia 5.1 Plus is part of Android One program, we expect to see major OS updates coming for at least two years, and three years of Security patches. This requirement is part of an agreement signed by HMD Global, Google and some other companies that have smartphones with the Android One engraved logo.
