The smartphone debuted with Android 8.1 Oreo straight ou the box, but soon after Pie release the company promised to deliver the update. Today is the big day for all owners of the midrange device since HMD is finally seeding the Android 9 Pie update to the handset.

Android 9 Pie should keep landing on more devices of the Nokia’s portfolio, such as the Nokia 8, 8 Sirocco, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 and more. Since all the recent releases of the company came with the Android One label, they should have at least a guarantee of receiving two major Android updates.
The update brings a revamped System UI, Adaptive Battery, Digital Wellbeing, Gesture Controls, Google Lens integration and much more. Since this update is being rolled out gradually, it should take some days to arrive for all owners of the smartphone.
