Google Pay arrives for Nordic Countries through a partnership with Nordea

In order to compete with the likes of Apple, Samsung, and LG with their respective payment platforms, Google trimmed all its confuse contactless payments apps (Android Pay, Google Wallet) into a single platform carrying the Google Pay moniker. The platform is slowly growing in availability across the Globe and the latest region to be contemplated is the Nordic realm.

This comes thanks to a partnership between Google and the Finnish Bank Nordea. Customers of this specific bank from all Nordic countries can now use Google Pay at contactless payment terminals and in apps and online stores. Apparently, the Nordic Area has a huge demand for this kind of payment, due to the recent launch of different platforms in these countries.

Gizchina News of the week

“As the frontrunner of the digital transformation of banking, it’s important to offer a complete range of digital payment solutions to all customers. No other Nordic bank can match our broad range of digital payment solutions on all Nordic markets,”

– Erik Zingmark, Head of Transaction Banking at Nordea.

From today, all Nordea’s consumer cards and Nordea First Card can be added to the Google Pay platform. This will bring more force to this segment and users of this specific bank in Nordic Countries, will be one more option to choose between the myriad of contactless payment systems.
