Yesterday, OnePlus announced its latest flagship, the OnePlus 6T, and this time OnePlus took a different approach by inviting Zack Jerry (Known for his durability tests and teardown videos) from JerryRigEverything to the launch event in New York.
The OnePlus 6T comes with a Corning Gorilla Glas 6 protection on the top of the screen that only suffers minor scratches at level 6 and deeper at level 7 of the Mohs scale.
The device has a fingerprint scanner embedded in the screen and we could think that the scratches could affect the scanner. However, this is not the case, since the fingerprint reader on the screen still works well despite having scratches on the glass surface.
Gizchina News of the week
The Chinese firm has dropped the rear fingerprint sensor for a “Screen Unlock” which is essentially its own term for an in-display fingerprint reader. The firms claims its screen unlock is the fastest-performing implementation of in-display fingerprint authentication yet.
The device comes with a black back cover in Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants. The Midnight Black variant is the one that underwent the durability tests and came out quite well.
The device was also subjected to the heat test and then to the flexion test and, interestingly, the OnePlus 6T was still usable after all the tests.
