After years of concepts and speculation foldable smartphones are finally becoming a thing. While everybody is looking towards Samsung and its Galaxy F, there are a lot of other companies preparing their own contenders for this experimental segment. According to reports, Samsung’s Korean Compatriot, LG is also preparing a foldable smartphone to launch early on 2019.
The exact release date is unclear, but according to the reputable leakster, Evan Blass, LG is about to unveil its foldable smartphone in January at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. With that in mind, we can assume that both Samsung and LG will dominate this segment during the first half of 2019. The late part of the next year will be marked by foldable smartphone from other companies from China, such as Huawei, Xiaomi and Lenovo.

The exact key specs and the design of the LG’s foldable smartphone are still unknown. The smartphone should be sold in limited quantity, after all, the companies want to be safe with this segment. If demand proves good, then the foldable smartphones will start to be sold in large scale. LG will face a direct competition with Samsung since the Galaxy F is rumored to come at CES 2019 as well.
Pricing is still unknown, but considering that the Galaxy F should come for $2000, we expect to see LG adopting the same pricing strategy for its foldable device.
