Yesterday, AnTuTu released “October 2018 Chinese Android smartphones performance rankings“, and the Huawei Mate 20 series won the top three positions. Shortly, the Kirin 980 is the world’s fastest chip in the Android camp. But as you guess, everything may change once the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is out.

In October, we witnessed the release of a number of Chinese flagship smartphones, including the Huawei Mate 20 series, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, the Honor Magic 2, the Nubia X, etc. Thanks to the powerful hardware configuration, these products are in the top positions of AnTuTu’s list.
Note: The AnTuTu running points (v7 version) in this chart are average running scores, not the highest scores; data collection time is: October 1 – 31, 2018; single model data statistics > 1000.
Gizchina News of the week
As previously predicted, with the release of the Huawei Mate 20 series, the performance of the Snapdragon 845 model would be monopolized for several months. This month, the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X ranked the top three. They show scores of 311,840, 307,693, and 303,112, respectively. In addition, the Mate 20 family models are equipped with a 6GB RAM or larger. It also has a huge impact on the performance.
However, surprisingly, the Huawei Mate 20 X that has been thought to have the strongest performance is only the third in the AnTuTu list. The average score is nearly 8,000 points lower than Mate 20. AnTuTu thinks it may be related to the firmware – probably, the optimization has not been completed yet.
Moreover, when testing the Mate 20 series phones, users have activated the ‘performance mode’ in the system settings. It is off by default. But if you want to achieve better results, AnTuTu recommends running the performance mode manually.
The fourth and fifth places are occupied by the Xiaomi Black Shark phones. The first-gen model and the Helo score 301,757 and 293,544 respectively. The Black Shark Helo is the first Snapdragon 845 with an average score of over 300,000.
The 5-10 are followed by the Meizu 16th (292,394), OnePlus 6 (292,371), Asus ROG Gaming Phone (291,701), Smartisan Nut R1 (291,102), and Nubia Z18 (290,332).
