Earlier this month, Samsung showed off its own foldable display phone solution. Although it looks a bit thick, the foldable phone design is quite cool. In addition to the shape of the mobile phone, Samsung is still working with Google to design a customized version of the Android system for its own foldable display smartphone, which can better show the advantages and charm of the dual screen. For Google, it will do this not just for Samsung but it will be an option for future OEMs.

In fact, Google has already adjusted the Android system. Simply put, the native support for collapsible devices has been introduced in the Android code and Google is actively improving some key areas to support more new devices. The current version of Android released by Google supports multiple windows, and when folding/expanding devices, it will naturally switched from one screen the other. It must be noted that the app is paused when multiple windows is active. However, Google will allow device manufacturers to remain active in multiple windows.
Google’s support for collapsible display is born from a new feature called “screen continuity.” This is the API interface that Android apps use to know when the screen size changes. This new form adds a new scale to the existing model, so to get the Android app to support collapsed display, the developer only need to make sure they use this interface correctly.
