Xiaomi Announces Strategic Cooperation With IKEA in AI + IoT Field

The president of IKEA Retail China in Sweden and the head of IKEA Smart Home Business attended the conference and announced together with Fan Dian, General Manager of IoT Platform Department of Xiaomi Group, that Xiaomi and IKEA reached a global strategic cooperation.

Xiaomi said that IKEA’s full range of smart lighting products will be connected to the Xiaomi IoT platform. This is the first time that IKEA has cooperated with Chinese technology companies. Both parties believe that the cross-border cooperation between Xiaomi and IKEA will increase the popularity of smart homes around the world. It is expected that in December, these smart homes of IKEA can be controlled by Mijia APP or Xiao AI.

For this strategic cooperation, Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group said that AI+IoT is the core strategy of Xiaomi. ‘AI+IoT technology will be embedded in every device in the future. In the next three to five years, each device will have an AIoT control module to make the interaction interesting.’ In fact, as early as September, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Lei Jun also said that ‘top companies in the world regard artificial intelligence as the latest core strategy.’

Founded in Sweden in 1943, the IKEA Group has become the world’s largest furniture company. This global strategic cooperation with Xiaomi will greatly advance the Xiaomi IoT platform to the international stage.

It is reported that Xiaomi Group has started IoT layout since 2014 and has supported nearly 2,000 devices. The number of smart device connections exceeds 132 million.
