From our last week poll, 43% of our votes believes that Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, ticks all the boxes with its flagship smartphones for 2018. Huawei came second with 28% while Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus collectively racked up 15%.
Today, we will be looking at the potential smartphone trend for next year, 2019. Reminiscing 2018, a couple of techs became trends. Every manufacturer now uses a full-screen design on its flagship smartphone. This tech was initiated late last year but became a trend this year. Nevertheless, technology like dual-display never saw the light of day this year.
Gizchina News of the week
However, 2019 is looking like a very promising year and a couple of technologies have been introduced in 2018 that should be a trend in 2019. We have the likes of
- Punch Hole Display Camera Cutout for a better and higher screen-to-body ratio
- Slide-screens display as we saw with the Mi MIX 3, Honor Magic 2 and Lenovo Z5 Pro
- Foldable smartphones
- Triple+ camera Setups (maybe four or five)
- On-screen fingerprint sensor
- 5G technology
Obviously, all the above-listed technology cannot trend next year but which of these do you think all OEMs will want to use on their 2019 smartphone? Cast your vote in the poll below and if there is anything else you need to add, let us know in the comments.

I think it will be triple+ camera setup, although more than 2 cameras is stupid like hell (you can guess what I felt like when I heard of LG making the patent of 16 cameras on a phone).
I also think that on-screen fingerprint scanners will be embedded in most flagship phones of 2019, but no one will make a big deal about it (neither the OEMs nor the customers).
5G is something that every company likes to talk about, but I don’t really know how it will change the actual internet speed I might have on my next smartphone.
Foldable phone is a great gimmick. It will make it to CES2019 but then nobody will ever wanna use it.
