Qualcomm launches the world’s first fully integrated 5G new air interface (5G NR)

At the Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm’s President, Cristiano Amon, announced: “5G is here” and demonstrated the Qualcomm 5G prototype. Qualcomm released the world’s first fully integrated 5G new air interface (5G NR) millimeter wave and 6GHz RF module for 5G smartphones and other mobile terminals. This module can adapt to different frequency bands of different operators in different regions.

Gizchina News of the week

This millimeter-wave 5G RF module works in tandem with the Snapdragon X50. The new millimeter wave module is very small therefore saves more space for components such as batteries, cameras, other sensors, etc. It can be easily integrated into the mobile phone to support 5G without adding 5G modules outside the mobile phone.

As of the time of this report, the conference is still ongoing and we are still expecting the official announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. This chip is based on the TSMC’s 7nm process and its performance has been improved significantly. The energy efficiency ratio of the Snapdragon 855 will be more prominent. The press conference is currently underway, and we will announce more details shortly.
