HTC’s first blockchain smartphone – the Exodus 1 – is now on sale over in 34 countries and regions, including the United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Austria, Norway, other European regions and more.
Are you ready to get one? Hold on! You can only get the handset using cryptocurrency. Which means you can only use funds from your Litecoin, Bitcoin and Ethereum. Once you do that, you can use what HTC calls a Zion crypto wallet, a wallet backed by both hardware and software security, basically it’s a separate part of the OS. So it’s not storing any user data anywhere except the phone itself.
With said wallet, you can use trade cryptocurrencies, pay with crypto, run dApps, as well as collecting cryptokitties. All the operations are made through the heavily encrypted Trusted Executive Environment (TEE) and while making the transaction authorization it creates Zion Trusted AI safe zone. Zion supports the Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and ERC-20 or ERC-721 tokens and all the keys and codes are stored safely locally inside the HTC EXODUS 1 phone. You can also recover keys with Social Key Recovery function, dividing the seed into 3-5 parts and sending those to your family or friends.
Gizchina News of the week
On the hardware side, the HTX Exodus 1 comes with a 6-inch QHD+ display paired with a top-shelf Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6GB/128GB memory. Dual 16 MP rear camera with telephoto zoom, plus dual 8MP front cameras, too.
Finally, if you’re wondering what it looks like on the front, good luck finding that out as the company has kept it a secret up until now. Could it be for security reasons? It’s really hard to tell!
Learn more about it or buy one on the HTC’s official website.
