Mi MIX 3 to be official in Malaysia, to cost less than RM 2,500 ($597)

Xiaomi recently held an event last week in the US where it showed off the Mi MIX 3 in the country officially for the first time. Now, the handset is set to land on Malaysian soil next month, a company teaser revealed today. Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook and Twitter page didn’t quite state very clearly that the handset is actually the Mi MIX 3 but the caption especially the word “sliding” left no doubt that it is indeed the Mi MIX 3.

Also, pricing of the device has been hinted at in the new teaser. The company will sell the slider smartphone for below RM 2,500. In China, Xiaomi’s first slider phone sells for a starting CNY 3299 (~RM 2002, $478 approx).

The Mi MIX 3 recently was also announced in Taiwan and its impending arrival in Malaysia only signals the possibility of the handset launching in more Asian countries in the next month or so. It is also expected to launch in Europe soon. In Taiwan, the company priced the handset for NT$14,999 ($486). The Taiwan price is pretty close to the Chinese pricing and we expect the Malaysian price to be along similar lines.

Xiaomi recently put the special Mi MIX 3 Forbidden City Edition up for sale in China with a price tag of 4999 Yuan ($725).
