It is no secret that Epic Games has achieved great success in 2018 thanks to the popularity of Fortnite. But, how much profit did the company get ?
The TechCrunch website has reported that Epic Games has made a profit of 3,000 million dollars during 2018 – profit, not revenue. The report cites “a source close to the business,” since Epic Games is not a public company and therefore does not share its financial data.
2018 had an incredible start for Epic Games, when it launched Fortnite for iOS. Although it’s not clear which part of the $3 billion profit comes from Fortnite for iOS, the Sensor Tower data suggested that iOS users spent more than $1 million a day a couple of months ago.

TechCrunch believes that Fortnite for iOS made an income of about 385 million dollars between April and November. Google, however, has not managed to enter a single euro due to Epic’s decision not to offer the game in the Play Store.
During the summer, analysts predicted that Fortnite would raise $2 billion in 2018, but now it is clear that those estimates were too conservative.
Despite this massive reported profit, TechCrunch notes that Epic definitely missed out on the lucrative Chinese market. Chinese publisher Tencent is said to have released the game in the country, but a pause in video game license approvals means it’s unable to generate revenue from the title just yet.
