Xiaomi’s newest sub-brand – the Redmi held its maiden launch event yesterday in China. Expectedly, the event’s highlight was the unveiling of the brand’s first smartphone – The Redmi Note 7. The Redmi Note 7 is largely a budget phone with a retail price of just 999 RMB that combines the mid-range Snapdragon 660 processor with a high-capacity 4,000mAh battery and impressive 48Mp camera.
While the previous generation of the Redmi Note gets more capable Pro models, Redmi at yesterday only announced the base Redmi Note 7, leaving a big blank space for those expecting the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

That said, the company isnt entirely skipping the Redmi Note 7 pro as it also mentioned a word or two relating to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The company at its maiden launch event hinted that it is working on a Pro variant of the newly unveiled Redmi Note 7, and it could be launched in no distant time.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the Redmi Note 7 pro will also come fitted with a 48MP rear camera but will eschew Samsung’s camera sensor for the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor.
Sadly, that is about all the company revealed, so we are not sure what other upgrades the Pro model will bring to the table, however, there are indications the device will launch later in February.
