Despite the fact that Samsung is the world’s largest smartphone vendor, the company’s is far from being the best when it comes to providing timely Android updates for its smartphones. With exception of the Galaxy S9 and S9, every import smartphone from Samsung released in the last year or so with Oreo, is yet to receive an update to Android 9.0 Pie.
As previously mentioned both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ started to receive the Pie update back in the last month, but not everyone got it yet. The same goes for the Galaxy Note 9, which reportedly started to receive the promised update a week ago. Unfortunately, the Note 9 owners who got a smile on their faces with the imminence of this update, will have to wait a bit longer.
Gizchina News of the week
Apparently, the rollout was nothing more than a test. Even though the update was tagged as a stable build, it’s only available in Germany. The South-Korean manufacturer initially stated that the update was set to be deployed on January 15, but it may have been delayed. Samsung’s Turkish Portal Guncelmiyiz has just updated its previous Galaxy Note 9 Pie update roadmap to February 1, two weeks later than previously announced.
The delay may be explained by the discovery of a new unseen bug on the firmware, so a two weeks delay probably won’t hurt Note 9 owners if this means that they will receive a final stable update on the new date. Of course, even though it comes on February 1, it will still take some weeks to arrive for all Galaxy Note 9 in the multiple regions where the device is available.
