Vivo Apex 2019 suspected renders leaked, show no buttons, almost no bezels

Vivo first showed off its stunning Apex concept smartphone last year at MWC 2018 surprising everyone. However, it seems this year the company is on a quest to one-up itself with an even better Apex 2019 design rumoured a month before MWC. The launch is already set for January 24 and there are almost no renders or leaked designs of the handset apart from a couple or three.

However, suspected renders of a full Apex 2019 leaked on Weibo today by @Leaks_Viet_Nam. This leak comes after Vivo did a blind test on Chinese citizens letting them feel the Vivo Apex 2019 design with their hands in a black box this weekend on city streets.

It’s confirmed from the encounter that the Vivo Apex 2019 does not have any buttons or keys, or even a headphone jack. Also, as described by Chinese participants of the blind test, its shape feels like a metal soap or a cobblestone that is rounded from all sides.

The leak here shows a similar front screen that is edge-to-edge with almost no bezels and razor-thin ones on the bottom. This does leave question marks about the front camera, but then, the render only shows the front. This is indeed turning up to be a very interesting smartphone from Vivo. There’s no guarantee of the authenticity of this leak especially considering the handset has managed to evade the rumour radar completely in the last few weeks or so. Stay tuned as we will be bringing you the latest updates regarding the Apex 2019 as soon as we can find them.

Crap, killing functionality for the sake of design. Bad move Vivo.

I disagree, this type of approach would speed up our wireless technology development if this was mainstream

It’s your opinion but I think this is pretty bad. And for sure this phone would be a disposable one, it won’t be pro consumer. When it comes to wireless stuff I enjoy my fare share of wireless earphones, wireless charging and other wireless stuff and still have the conveniece of a type-c port and functional buttons.
