Back in the last month, Motorola kicked off the rollout of Android Pie update for the Moto G6 Plus. The Moto G6 and G6 Play were left wondering when they would receive the new flavor of Android. Thankfully, the wait seems to be finally over, as Motorola is gearing up the update for both midrange handsets.
Apparently, the Lenovo-owned company already pushed the Android Pie update to a limited number of users in Brazil. If our estimative is correct, Motorola should start the global rollout in less than a month if everything goes well during the testing phase.
Gizchina News of the week
Thanks to a screen shared by one of the few guys running Android Pie on Moto G6, we know that the promised update will carry the January Security Patch. Furthermore, the 9.0 version of Android will introduce an array of new features such as Digital Wellbeing, Adaptive Battery, New Settings UI, Revamped Quick Settings and more control over the Notifications.
Unfortunately, reports indicate that there is a small issue that is affecting the functionality of Google Play Store. Motorola can’t release this update until this issue is addressed, after all, would be a mess to roll out an update that will prevent users from downloading apps through the store.
We expect to see more beta updates being deployed on the new weeks, and hopefully, a final stable release comes before the Android Q revelation, that may occur on Q2 2019.
