The upper mid-range Nokia 8.1 is coming to the UK, the company confirmed in a statement earlier today. Although not yet listed in any stores, the company in its emailed press statement confirmed that the device will be available to buy in the U.K. market beginning from today.
The Nokia 8.1 will be available in Onyx Black and Sapphire Blueblue/silver and steel/copper color options when it is finally listed in any of the UK stores. It would set you back £379.99 (~$498), with no information on any carrier deal at the moment.
First announced back in China last November, the Nokia 8.1 is the ideal successor to the Nokia 7 Plus, and it is probably HMDs attempt at removing the confusing “Plus” from the series, thereby paving the way for the arrival of the flagship Nokia 9 which is set to be unveiled at its pre-MWC conference on Feb. 24 in Barcelona.
Gizchina News of the week
The Android One-based Nokia 8.1 comes fitted with a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with HDR10 support and an overly large notch. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD.
The screen notch houses a 20MP selfie camera, while a dual 12+13MP sensors with 1/2.55”, 1.4µm pixels, Zeiss optics, and Optical Image Stabilization sit somewhere on the flip side. It boots Android Pie out of the box and comes embedded with a 3,500mAh capacity with support for 18W fast charging.
