Alphabet, the parent company of Google, Has presented its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2018 a few hours ago. During the last quarter of the last year, advertising revenues reached $32.6 billion, representing an increase of 20% over the same period of the previous year. This is the same rate of growth that the company achieved in the fourth quarter of last year.
The company paid $7.45 billion to acquire traffic during the quarter, which includes the money it pays Apple to become the default search engine for iOS devices.
This figure represents 24% of Google’s advertising revenue in the fourth quarter of 2018, and increased 13% sequentially with respect to the third quarter of 2018, and 15% year-on-year with respect to the fourth quarter of 2017.
Other revenues, which include its cloud and hardware business (such as Pixel smartphones, smart home speakers and more), increased 31% to reach $6.490 billion, slightly surpassing Wall Street expectations.
Overall, Google’s revenue for the quarter was $39.1 billion, 22% more than the $32.2 billion recorded during the fourth quarter of 2017. The search giant’s operating revenue increased 13% year-over-year, from $8.6 billion to $9.7 billion.
