Truck conveying Rs 1 crore worth of Xiaomi Mi phones looted in India

A sad day for Xiaomi India and fans of Xiaomi World over. Reports from India suggest a large chunk of some Xiaomi smartphones have been carted away by some hotheads Indian locals. According to TimesofIndia, a truck studded with a number of the Mi phones was looted at a truck lay-by bay where the driver had stopped to rest for a while.

The Truck was said to be on its way to Kolkata from Sri City when the incident occurred. The miscreants who were four in numbers reportedly tortured the driver before they had him tied to a nearby tree before driving the truck away to Gowravaram village where they had all the Mi phones transferred to another unidentified truck and fled from the spot.

We are not sure of the identity of the Xiaomi Mi Phone, perhaps they are the upcoming Mi 9 flagship smartphones,  but the report says they are worth Rs 1 crore. Locals immediately informed the police who said units price of each of the Mi phones ranges from Rs. 6,000 – Rs. 14,000. The police also allege that the incident may have been pre-planned with a tip from an insider.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, and we do hope the criminal behind the act are unraveled.
