When a certain leaked video of the Galaxy S10 Plus leaked online not very long ago, it brought to light one of the potential failings of the on-screen fingerprint reader. The video showed a screen protector with a cutout for the front fingerprint reader. This led to reports that Samsung’s ultrasonic fingerprint reader won’t play nice with third-party layers. However, a new leaked image of official screen protectors has just arrived today suggesting that Samsung’s own version will very much be like a regular screen protector without any requirement for a cutout.
Gizchina News of the week
As can be seen in the above images, Samsung’s protectors have no holes for a fingerprint reader and some reports suggest they will come pre-applied on the flagships. That does still doesn’t answer the question about third-party screen films and we will have to see whether the leaked reports are actually true.
In case it ends up being true, then Galaxy S10 users will have to resort to using official screen protectors every time the old one wears off to avoid the third party screen layers with cutouts.
Samsung will announce the trio of devices on February 20 followed by a preview launch in India in eight cities on February 21.
